Since purchasing a memorial is a major investment of time and money, it should be undertaken with great thought and care. Understanding the various memorial styles will allow you to make a fully informed decision. Cemetery memorials styles range from flat, beveled or slant markers to uprights and memorial benches.
Cemetery Regulations: Another important element to consider is the rules and regulations at the cemetery. Every cemetery has rules around the types of headstones it allows, including rules regarding headstone style, size, and features. It is helpful to find out what the rules are at the cemetery you are working with.
Cost: Please remember that each memorial is custom made with quality materials and craftsmanship to uniquely and appropriately honor your loved one(s). The price of any memorial will vary depending on the type of stone, size, color of granite, amount of carving, lettering and surface finishes used. Because of all the potential variables each memorial is priced individually. We offer memorials in all price ranges.

FLAT MARKER: Also known as a flush or grass marker is generally used to commemorate an individual. Longer versions can accommodate two or more individuals. Flat markers are usually 4 inches thick and lie flat on the ground, flush with the grass.
BEVEL MARKER: Also known as a pillow marker is usually selected for an individual. Various sizes are available. A bevel marker is rectangular shaped stone where the back is slightly taller than the front, thus creating the beveled face. This is more visible than the flat marker.
SLANT MARKER: A slanted marker is a wedge shape with a vertical back and a sloped face. A single slant marker is usually chosen for an individual. They are available in assorted sizes. They are low in the front and higher in the back than the bevel marker, thus creating the slanted face. A double slant is selected for a companion (2 interment) situation. They are available in assorted sizes, and as with the single version – low in the front and high in the back creating the slanted face. The advantage of a slanted grave marker, as opposed to a flat or bevel marker, is that it is easily visible from a distance. A base can be added to raise the slant.
UPRIGHT MEMORIALS: An Upright Memorial (includes both vertical and horizontal) and is a two-piece unit with a top tablet, referred to as the die, that sits on a bottom piece called a base. Some refer to this style as a headstone, gravestone or tombstone. The smaller sizes generally are used for individuals, while the larger versions can accommodate two or more inscriptions.
VERTICAL: A Vertical Memorial is a two-piece unit where the top tablet is higher than it is wide. Vertical tablets can be used to mark multiple individuals on a single grave. Vertical Memorials can take many shapes, colors, sizes and styles.
HORIZONTAL: A Horizontal Memorial is a two-piece unit where the top tablet is wider than it is high. They are available in many shapes and sizes. While smaller versions can be used for individuals, this is generally selected as a companion or family memorial for 2 to 6 inscriptions.
